'I do believe' - Robert Snodgrass delivers exciting Leeds United verdict as Daniel Farke saluted

Leeds United’s progress has been assessed by former Whites winger Robert Snodgrass

Robert Snodgrass believes the time for Leeds United to move into the top half of the Premier League has arrived.

Leeds have made a promising start to the 2026/27 season, losing just one of their opening eight games and rising to seventh in the table.

Whites boss Daniel Farke has played down talk of European football, although Leeds will definitely be keen to live a lot more comfortably than they did last term.

Robert Snodgrass’ exciting Leeds United verdict

Snodgrass, a former winger who represented the Whites between 2008 and 2012, believes his former employers are well-placed to push on.

He told Snabbare: “That's the beauty in the Premier League now. Everybody can beat everybody. They've got the players in the squad, and can cause any team problems. Recruitment's been really, really good as well. And again, learning from the last time, they’ve been out but can we do a Brighton, a Brentford, and really build on trying to be a mainstay in the Premier League?

“They're heading in that direction. I think they will be in the top half this season. This is the season. I felt as if they were performing really well until the end of last season, where they were safe and they just maybe took their foot off the gas a little bit.

“They'll probably learn from that as well, every point’s a precedent and it’s how you maximise turning the draws into wins and stuff like that. They'll be on the ball, and as with a lot of other teams, will believe they can get in the top half, but I do believe this is Leeds’ year to get in there.”

Praise for Daniel Farke

Leeds boss Daniel Farke appeared to be fighting for his job at this stage of last season, but has since bounced back to earn widespread acclaim for his work at Elland Road.

Snodgrass has waxed lyrical about the German, saluting the way in which he has built a relationship with his squad.

He said: “I think Daniel Farke has jumped into that sort of top category of Premier League managers. I feel as if every single time that somebody's questioned him, again he’s come up trumps and found a way and delivered. He’s always had great connections with the fans everywhere he's been. He builds that sort of relationship with the players as well, you can see that he's got a real calm but fiery presence when he needs to as well.

“I think he's a terrific manager. I think Leeds and him just fit, if I'm honest. And on their day Leeds can beat anyone. Leeds are sort of formidable and you know, especially with their home support, it is incredible.

“I always say that your team needs to mirror the fans, because that's the way they are as fans and they're right on the edge, they want you to be on the edge, they want you to keep pushing forward. Every single time I played for Leeds, every single time I felt as if I got the ball I had to make something happen.”
