Sheffield Wednesday 'advancing' in loan pursuit of Wrexham's ex-Barnsley FC star Davis Keillor-Dunn

Sheffield Wednesday are seemingly making a late move to sign a former Barnsley star

Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly making a late move to sign former Barnsley star Davis Keillor-Dunn on loan from Wrexham.

The 28-year-old was a talismanic figure in Barnsley’s attack, scoring 35 goals across 78 outings before his departure earlier this year.

He was lured to Wrexham in the winter window, joining the Red Dragons for a second spell, but has found opportunities limited.

Sheffield Wednesday ‘advancing’ with forward pursuit

According to The Star, he now is now being lined up for a return to South Yorkshire with League One promotion-chasers Wednesday.

He is said to be on his way to Yorkshire to complete a medical and seal a season-long loan switch to Hillsborough.

No hiccups are expected, with a deal for Keillor-Dunn seemingly set to be done ahead of the 11pm transfer deadline.

Wednesday were linked with the versatile attacker earlier in the window and the opportunity to strike a late deal is thought to have arisen.

Davis Keillor-Dunn’s February move

The Owls would be landing a player with an impressive track record at League One level - and one who is likely to be eager to prove himself after a tough stint in Wales.

While the move away from Oakwell in February was one Keillor-Dunn cleary wanted to make, he insisted his time with the Reds “ended brilliantly”.

After the move, the marksman said: “It all ended brilliantly at my previous club Barnsley. It really did. Saturday, I obviously scored two, the club won, three points, and I think a lot of the fans were really happy to see me move on and get my opportunity in the Championship. It was really good.”

He has since made just a handful of appearances under Phil Parkinson at Wrexham.

Keillor-Dunn looks set to follow Jaden Heskey through the door in S6 following the 20-year-old’s second loan move from Manchester City to Wednesday.
