Mark Casci is a graduate of the University of Leeds and has spent his entire journalistic career in Yorkshire.
He joined The Yorkshire Post in 2008 and since then has held in a number of roles at the title, including as News Editor during which time he masterminded coverage of the 2015 General Election, the 2014 Grand Depart and the Hillsborough Inquest.
He took up the role of Business Editor in 2016 and was awarded the coveted Wincott Award for Journalist of the Year in the UK Nations and Regions in 2018.
During his time in the position he has obtained exclusive interviews with Prime Minister Boris Johnson,Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey, then chancellor Philip Hammond, then chancellor George Osborne, Barclays CEO Jes Staley, Bank of England chief economist Andy Haldane and former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis.
Among the major stories he has broken include the sale of Leeds Bradford Airport to AMP Capital, the payment of bonuses to bosses at the Rural Payments Agency during its chronic mismanagement of subsidy payments to farmers and the wasting of tens of millions of pounds on consultancy fees for regeneration projects in Bradford which never took place.
He has appeared as a commentator on BBC News at Six, The Daily Mail, BBC Radio Leeds and BBC Radio Hull.
